This blog is created due to Mr. David Grundy asking his students to
create a blog based on his students' opinions on the television show; Dragons
Den. Dragons Den is basically a television series on where there will be 5
individual Millionaires, in which each one of them will be called the
‘Dragons’, in every show there will be multiple entrepreneurs that are
willing to pitch them about their products and creates interest for
the ‘Dragons’ to invest in their products.


Dragon’s Den first Entrepreneur


The first entrepreneur in the video listed was Bob and Steve, with the
offers of an easy lift drain. The purpose of the product being created
by Bob and Steve is to allow house owners to fix and clean drains by
themselves with ease, due to being able to move and raise the drain
with only one man.



Bob and Steve offered 100.000 Pounds to the dragons for 25% of the
ownership of the share of the business. However, at the point of the
video, Bob and Steve only sold 60 pieces to drains company and the
drain company only sold 20 at that time. This creates the dragons
thinking twice about the products, as the sales are poor and the
product is still new to the market. Bob and Steve also mentioned that
the products will last generally around 120 years.


In my opinion, this is a very bad investment for the dragons as first
of all any household residence can just call the drain cleaner to
actually fix the drain rather than buying an expensive product and
having to do it by themselves. Moreover, the products will last at a
period of 120 years, means there will be no loyal customers in terms
of their business, if a customer has purchased their products, they
will never ever return back to Bob and Steve for another 120 years, so
based on that reasons to not invest of those products, I think it was
a good choice that any of the dragons didn’t decide to invest in
products, as investing in those products will not benefit in any
shareholder maximisation.


Dragon’s Den Second Entrepreneur


The second entrepreneur to impress the dragons was Sue McDonald and
Linda. They offered the dragons a bra fitting system that allows bra
users to wear bras the right way by having the right size for them
with a measuring tape that would check an each individual’s size body
like shoulder width and chest size.


They offered the dragons 40.000 pounds in return for a 10% ownership
in the business. As the measurement tape products are hard to use and
are handy friendly to the dragons, all the dragons immediately reject
their offer in less than 10 minutes of the video. In my opinion, the
product has no use what so ever in bringing positive impact to bra
users as the products are sold to be self-use, means customers that
have no idea on how to use the tapes will come to a dead end and end
up not using the measurement tapes. The measurement tapes also give
the dragons a very hard time to measure, as it is better for them to
just ask someone who specialises in them to actually measure it for
them.


Dragon’s Den Third Entrepreneur


The last entrepreneur to impress the dragons is Nigel and Kate. They
offered the dragons self-make hair accessories and dolls named Makery.
This product allows children from various group age to create and be
creative to create their own accessories and dolls.


Both Kate and Nigel offered the dragons an amount of 50.000 pounds for
a 10% share in their business. The dragons hesitated though since the
brand of Makery is quite unclear due to the logo in its product and
books are both different. In the end, the dragons decided to reject
their offers. In my opinion, this is a good move by dragons as when
Kate is pitching about her products, the way she was talking is as if
she has no confidence about the products is offered to the dragons,
Kate also hesitate when being asked about the net profit being made,
as it only makes 20.000 pounds profit in a year, as the capital to
make a business itself was 500.000 pounds. and the fact that Nigel and
Kate often discuss their own products in front of the dragons shows
the dragons that there are internal problems in the business. In the
end, although Kate and Nigel's Product were very charming and cute
looking, what really attracts the dragons to invest in their product
vest are the numbers of profit being earned by the business.
